She took her own life, preliminary probe reveal after police officer died in Kisii

Kisii Sub-County Police Commander Musa Omari confirmed the tragic death of 42-year-old Corporal Marjorie Bosibori, who took her own life inside the radio room at Kisii Central Police Station on Tuesday morning, leaving her colleagues in shock.

According to Commander Omari, Corporal Bosibori, who worked as a signaller at the station, had shown no outward signs of distress or emotional turmoil when she reported for work.

After finishing her shift around midnight, she returned to the station with a colleague, mentioned she needed to use the restroom, and instead locked herself inside the radio room.

Her body was discovered at around 8am on July 28, 2026, when a fellow officer arrived for the morning shift and was forced to break open the locked door.

Crime scene investigators from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) processed the room and recovered an AK-47 rifle, which had been officially issued to Bosibori the previous evening for a duty assignment at a local supermarket, alongside one spent cartridge, 29 live rounds, medical drugs, and three mobile phones.

Bosibori suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the chest, and no suicide note was found at the scene.

Her body was subsequently moved to the Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital Mortuary for a post-mortem examination as investigations into the incident continue.
