EACC arrests three, orders fourth to surrender over alleged CDF fraud

The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission has arrested three suspects and ordered a fourth to surrender over the alleged misappropriation of Constituency Development Funds.

According to a statement released by the anti-graft agency on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, the four individuals named in the probe are Pauline Waruguru Mwangi, James Muroki Eusebio, James Ntonjira Ntongai, and Joshua M’maroo.

Detectives took the first three into custody ahead of their planned arraignment at the Meru Law Courts, while M’maroo was directed to report immediately to the commission’s Upper Eastern Regional Office in Isiolo.

The group faces an array of charges, including conspiracy to commit corruption, unlawful acquisition of public property, abuse of office, and misappropriation of public funds.

While official details regarding the specific constituency and the precise amount of money involved remain undisclosed, the scope of the charges highlights a coordinated scheme to divert devolved public funds intended for local infrastructure and social development.

The commission emphasized that it will continue to aggressively pursue those who abuse public office and siphon devolved resources, framing the latest arrests as part of a wider national campaign to enforce financial accountability across public institutions.
