A police impersonator is currently in custody following a midnight operation at L’Arc Casino inside Yaya Centre, Kilimani, where detectives responded to a distress call and recovered a firearm, forged law enforcement credentials, and a massive cache of live ammunition.
The suspect, identified as Philemon Kiplangat Chepkwony, was cornered and arrested while sitting inside a black motor vehicle, registration parked outside the establishment.
A preliminary search of the vehicle yielded a CZ 75 SP-01 pistol, an empty 9mm magazine, a pair of handcuffs, a fake civilian firearm certificate, and a forged Certificate of Appointment identifying him as a Police Constable.
Following initial interrogation at the scene, Chepkwony led sleuths to his rented house in Waluku Village, Dagoretti North, where officers conducted a secondary search.
Inside the residence, detectives uncovered an additional 100 rounds of 9mm ammunition neatly packaged in two boxes of 50.
The suspect is currently undergoing processing ahead of his formal court arraignment as detectives intensify investigations to trace the origin of the illegal weapon, establish the source of the live ammunition, and determine the full extent of his impersonation network across the city.
