Detectives from the Operation Action Team (OAT) have foiled a suspected criminal mission along Nthiwa Road in Yamase, Migori County, arresting two men and seizing five pangas alongside other crude weapons.
The swift operation was triggered by credible human intelligence warning that an armed group carrying crude weapons was traveling along the route in two vehicles.
Acting on the tip-off, officers intercepted one of the targeted vehicles, a silver Toyota Voxy, at Yamase.
Two suspects, identified as Hillary Odhiambo and James Oloo Otieno, were taken into custody at the scene.
A thorough search of the vehicle uncovered the cached pangas, which investigators believe were prepared for an upcoming criminal attack.
Both suspects and the seized weapons were transferred to police custody, where the duo is undergoing processing ahead of their court arraignment. Meanwhile, detectives are pursuing additional leads to track down and arrest the remaining accomplices linked to the group.
