By JOSIAH ODANGA: The construction of the Bondo-Liunda road which has stalled for years even after the official launch by President William Ruto will resume next week.

This was revealed by ODM party leader Dr Oburu Oginga, who was Tuesday addressing a proposed nuclear plant stakeholders meeting in Bondo.

He explained that the Cabinet Secretary of Roads Devis Chirchir, had through a teleconference call, confirmed to him that the contract has finally been awarded to a different contractor to continue with the project.

“I knew someone would ask me about that road. So, I have just talked to CS Chirchir who has confirmed that a new contractor has finally been given the project and will be on site next week,” he said.

Dr Oburu reported to the gathering that the road project had initially been awarded to one Mr Juma, famously known as Gogni Rajope, who died mysteriously a few months ago.

“Mr Chirchir has told me that that is why the construction works on Bondo-Liunda road stalled.”

The new contractor is a Chinese company called Thai Enterprises, he clarified, exuding confidence that “the Chinese contractors are largely reputable for doing quality work than some of our people.”

The major road has been feeding dust to the poor users and curtailing smooth movement the more its intended upgrade to bitumen continues to delay.
