Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has revealed that he personally requested President William Ruto not to attend the funeral service of his late wife, Adelaide Khalwale, which was held in Ikolomani.

Addressing hundreds of mourners gathered for the ceremony, Dr Khalwale explained that President Ruto called him directly to request landing coordinates for his chopper.

“The President requested me to send coordinates so that his chopper could land here today. I told him, through his aide Farouk Kibet, not to come,” Dr Khalwale stated.

The Senator acknowledged the cultural expectations surrounding funerals but noted that his main priority was maintaining tranquility during the solemn occasion.

“I know, during such times according to our culture, nobody asks whether he or she should come to attend the ceremony. I declined and politely requested him not to come,” he said.

He added, “I politely said, ‘Please, Mr President, for the burial of my wife to be as peaceful as it is now, please don’t come.'”
