Police in Rachuonyo East, Homa Bay County, have launched a murder investigation following the discovery of a 38-year-old man’s body at Ringa Trading Centre early Monday morning.
The victim, identified as Geoffrey Aroko Ayieko, was found at around 8am lying on his back near a local boda boda shed after a passerby alerted authorities.
A preliminary inspection by detectives revealed that Ayieko suffered multiple fractures and heavy internal bruising across his body, though he had no open wounds.
Detectives are treating the case as a murder, working under the premise that the fatal injuries were inflicted shortly before his body was left at the centre.
Ayieko, a former farmhand for a retired local teacher, reportedly struggled with mental health challenges prior to his death.
According to police reports, he was last seen alive walking along the road at around 2am roughly six hours before his body was spotted.
Investigators processed the scene before transporting the body to the Marani Sub-County Mortuary, where an upcoming postmortem examination will establish the exact cause of death.
