National Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi has expressed deep regret over the election of Suba South MP Caroli Omondi, vowing to ensure the lawmaker is voted out in the 2027 General Election.

Speaking alongside President William Ruto during the Head of State’s development tour of Suba South, Mbadi publicly declared that allowing Omondi to succeed him was the worst political mistake of his career.

“Your Excellency, I want to tell you that the person who was elected to serve as a lawmaker in this region has failed the people, and he will never be re-elected in this constituency,” Mbadi stated.

He went on, “I blame myself for his election in 2022. This is a mistake that we shall never allow to happen again in this region.”

Omondi won the Suba South parliamentary seat on an ODM ticket in 2022 after Mbadi stepped down from the constituency race to focus on national campaign operations for the late Raila Odinga.

The fallout between the two leaders highlights deepening political rifts in the region. Omondi has since aligned himself with the Linda Mwananchi movement, serving as its official spokesperson alongside key figures like Siaya Governor James Orengo and Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, further distancing himself from Mbadi and the government-aligned political faction.
