Detectives in Kisii town have cracked open a sophisticated device theft and hacking operation after raiding a phone repair shop at Market Plaza that was functioning as a front for illegal operations.

In a joint operation between DCI Kisii Central officers and fraud investigators from Mogo Auto Ltd, police caught suspects Duncan Ontita Anyaga and Phares Nyagaka Luke off guard.

Inside, authorities recovered over 500 mobile phones and motherboards, including stolen, Mogo-financed Tecno KM4 handsets that had been stripped of their digital security locks and prepared for illegal resale.

The suspects remain in custody as investigations continue ahead of their court appearance.

At the same time, the National Police Service has intensified coordinated anti-narcotics and anti-illicit brew crackdowns across Mombasa, Kilifi, and Nairobi counties.

Kilometers away in Jomvu, Mombasa, officers raided the Bangladesh area to arrest one suspect and confiscate 120 litres of illegal brew. Meanwhile, a raid in Malindi’s Kwa-Abudu neighborhood disrupted a local drug distribution network, resulting in the arrest of two suspects and the recovery of 140 rolls of cannabis, digital scales, and packaging materials.

In Nairobi, Kahawa West police officers targeted illegal brewing infrastructure in Soweto, destroying 1,500 litres of Kangara, 35 litres of Chang’aa, and various distillation tools.

Rounding out the nationwide security sweep, police officers in Likoni Sub-County intercepted an armed gang following a public tip-off.

Officers from Inuka Police Station responded to reports of armed individuals gathered near Likoni Secondary School, apprehending four suspects on the scene.

The officers confiscated crude weapons, including machetes and a slasher, before escorting the gang members to the police station for processing and upcoming court proceedings.
