MIGORI: A middle-aged man and his family have been forced out of Get village in South Sakwa Ward, Awendo Sub-County, after local elders ordered their expulsion following disturbing allegations against him.
The elders convened a meeting after receiving reports that the man had engaged in bestiality with a hen, resulting in the bird’s death. According to witnesses and elders present, the revelation sent shockwaves through the community.
Village elders say the decision to banish the man was driven primarily by concern for the safety of children in the area, citing fears that his continued presence in the village could pose a risk to minors.
The man reportedly admitted to the act during the proceedings and has since left Get village with his family, complying with the elders’ directive.
Residents, meanwhile, say the case should not end with banishment alone. Many are calling on relevant authorities to step in and provide the man with psychological guidance and counseling, rather than leaving the matter solely in the hands of village elders.
The incident has reignited debate in the area over the role of traditional community structures in handling such cases, versus formal legal and mental health intervention.
