Kenya’s senior men’s national football team will take on Rwanda in an international friendly on Monday, October 5, adding a third fixture to what is shaping up to be a packed schedule for Harambee Stars during the current FIFA international window.

The friendly comes on the back of two 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers for Benni McCarthy’s side, who will first host Eritrea at Nyayo National Stadium on Saturday, September 26, before travelling to take on Guinea on Thursday, October 1.

For McCarthy, the Rwanda clash, set for Amahoro Stadium in Kigali, offers a valuable extra opportunity to run the rule over his squad as preparations for the AFCON campaign continue to take shape.

Rwanda, too, will have their hands full before the two sides meet.

The Amavubi are set to host Liberia in Kigali on Friday, September 25, before travelling to face 2026 FIFA World Cup debutants Cape Verde in their own AFCON qualifying commitments.

Their meeting with Kenya will then close out a demanding three-week window for the hosts as well.

Harambee Stars reported to camp on Tuesday morning, kicking off preparations for what promises to be a physically demanding stretch of matches.

McCarthy will have just a few days to fine-tune his squad before Saturday’s home qualifier against Eritrea, after which attention will shift quickly to the away trip to Guinea and, finally, the friendly in Kigali.

On the squad front, there’s a notable return for Hannif Wesonga and Vincent Harper, while Amos Wanjala has earned his first call-up. Gor Mahia forward Shariff Musa also makes the cut, rewarded for a strong pre-season showing.

Elsewhere, young winger Javan Ochieng has been handed a call-up as he eyes his senior international debut, while captain Michael Olunga returns to the fold having recovered from injury.
