Harambee Stars head coach Benni McCarthy has raised concerns over unpaid player allowances, saying some members of the national team have gone through several camps without receiving promised payments.

McCarthy said some players have attended between four and five national team camps without receiving a cent of the allowances they were promised.

“For four to five camps, not receiving any cent of what was promised, of course as a human being you will be like, is it worth it? Is it okay for the national team?” McCarthy said.

The coach said the situation could affect players’ morale and their willingness to commit fully to national team duty.

McCarthy’s remarks have brought renewed attention to the financial challenges facing Harambee Stars players and the need for timely payment of allowances during national team assignments.

The comments also come as Kenya continues to prepare for upcoming international fixtures, with the coach expected to rely on the players’ commitment and availability as he builds the national team.
