Bungoma County Assembly is the first in the country to achieve the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System certification, a remarkable achievement according to the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS).
Speaking at a ceremony attended by leaders from Bungoma County, where she presented the certificate, KEBS Director General Esther Ngari commended the assembly, calling the certification a huge milestone.
“This demonstrates a deliberate commitment to strengthening institutional systems, proving consistency in service delivery and creating a culture of continuous improvement,” she said.
The certificate handover ceremony was attended by Bungoma County Assembly officials led by the clerk, Governor Kenneth Lusaka, North Rift Deputy Director Rono Birgen, Eng. Zacharia Lukorito, Director, Standards Development and Trade, and Isabella Lunani, Deputy Director, Certification Body.
Spirit of working together
The certification reflects the Assembly’s commitment to systematic processes, effective performance management and continuous improvement in serving the people of Bungoma.
“I want to appreciate the beautiful and great work in the assembly. The executive and the legislative wings of government have distinct constitutional roles that we all respect,” said Governor Lusaka.
“We may, from time to time, have different perspectives when it comes to oversight. However, this does not have to undermine service delivery,” he added.
Quality is not just a certificate; it is a commitment to continuous improvement.
