RUAI: Tragedy struck in Ruai, Nairobi County, as one individual fell victim to a fatal encounter with a hippopotamus.
Julius Obutere Adabwa, the deceased, was attacked and killed while on his way home at 9:00 PM.
According to a police incident report filed at Ruai Police Station, Adabwa, aged 54, was making his way home to the Gatuoro area when he encountered a hippopotamus and its calf.
The report indicates that the hippopotamus attacked him, resulting in severe injuries.
“The victim, a male adult identified as Julius Obutere Adabwa, aged 54, was heading home through a route near the sewerage plant around 9:00 PM when he encountered a hippopotamus and its calf,” the report stated.
The body showed visible injuries, particularly to the left side of the neck, left upper limb, and extensive injuries to the abdomen and chest area, consistent with tooth puncture marks. The scene was processed, and the body was transported to the city mortuary, pending a postmortem examination.
