Hail King David; Ugenya MP and MDG party leader receive heroic welcome in Mulembe Nation

Ugenya Member of Parliament and leader of the MDG party, David Ochieng, made a resounding entrance into Kakamega to bolster support for his party.

This marks the second major political rally in the Western region, following a massive gathering in Siaya last week which drew a large crowd.

Ochieng, akin to an Old Testament prophet calling for a change of ways, outlined his party’s manifesto and urged the electorate to join his cause.

Following the Kakamega rally, he is scheduled to head to Kisumu on Friday, then proceed to Bungoma for another campaign event.

Established in 2016, MDG has maintained its buoyancy in Ugenya constituency, where Ochieng is serving his third term as MP.

MDG stands out as the only political party in the region with a consistent elected leader for three terms in a region that supports majorly ODM-aligned candidates, a feat unmatched by other parties over nearly two decades.

Initially part of the Azimio coalition, MDG realigned with the ruling Kenya Kwanza party after the 2022 elections.

Despite being part of the ruling coalition, Ochieng has openly criticized President William Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza, particularly denouncing decisions like the 2024 Finance Bill, which he believes place undue burdens on the populace.

“I supported the housing levy in 2023 as a beneficial measure for our country, but I unequivocally oppose the Finance Bill 2024 set for voting tomorrow,” Ochieng declared during his Kakamega rally.
