Ochanda, Elisha and four other MPs to be recalled for betraying the ODM party

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has announced its intention to initiate and lead recall processes for six Members of Parliament who were elected on the party’s ticket.

The MPs facing potential recall and the constituencies they represent include Elisha Odhiambo of Gem, Gideon Ochanda of Bondo, Emmanuel Wangwe of Navakholo, Elijah Kanchory of Kajiado Central, Bernard Shinali of Ikolomani, and Caroli Omondi of Suba South.

Speaking to journalists after a Central Committee meeting in Nairobi on Tuesday, ODM Secretary General and Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna emphasized that these MPs had allegedly violated their oaths of office by disregarding the wishes of their constituents during the voting process on the recently withdrawn Finance Bill of 2024.

“ODM shall initiate and lead recall processes in the following constituencies in light of the current office holders repeated violation of their sacred oath and the wishes of their electorate. They are; Gem, Bondo, Navakholo, Kajiado central, Ikolomani and Suba South,” said Sifuna.

Sifuna also addressed the recent incident where protesters stormed Parliament, interpreting it as a vote of no confidence in the Kenya Kwanza administration.

He further called on the William Ruto-led government to “wake up and smell the coffee” and to heed the demands of the Kenyan people.
