The High Court in Nairobi has declined a petition seeking to stop public participation in the ouster of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
Victor Okoth had filed the petition under a certificate of urgency, requesting the court to declare the planned nationwide public participation unlawful.
The 144-page petition outlined several reasons for halting the process, including the lack of a proper mechanism and the inability of people to effectively participate.
Mr Gachagua argued that these issues warranted a delay to allow for proper planning.
In his petition, the Deputy President also claimed that the motion tabled on Tuesday, October 1, violated his constitutional rights, describing himself as a victim of political lynching.
Mr Gachagua has stated on multiple occasions that attempts to remove him from office undermine the will of the 7.2 million Kenyans who voted for him and President William Ruto.
