MURANG’A: Former Murang’a Governor Mwangi was Iria has used a chopper to deliver court orders stopping his arrest, his wife and brother by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) till the graft case is heard and determined.
The orders that were signed by the Deputy Registrar of Murang’a High Court has Mwangi wa Iria, Jane Kimani and Solomon Mutura as the first, Second and third petitioners respectively.
Director Public Prosecution (DPP), Inspector General of Police are the first and second respondents respectively, while Director of Criminal Investigation (DCI) and EACC are the third and the fourth respondents in that order.
Wa Iria has been on and off media over alleged embezzlement of funds in Murang’a county where he served for a decade as the county boss.
He was meant to appear before EACC on Tuesday but his lawyers showed up instead and put in a request for him to be allowed to postpone his appearance by a day.
EACC Spokesperson Eric Ngumbi, in a statement to newsrooms on Tuesday acknowledge the receipt of the request and granted it.
