Kenya to have a new DP by Friday October 18.

Kenya is poised to have a new Deputy President by Friday, October 18.

According to credible sources within the corridors of power, two names have emerged as possible replacements for the embattled DP Rigathi Gachagua.

To underscore this, national Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula has called a special sitting on Friday, where the new DP is likely to be vetted and given a node.

As the saying goes, “Nature abhors vacuum, the new DP is likely to be sworn in on Saturday.

Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, in an interview with Yvone Okwara on Citizen TV , hinted that President William Ruto was keen to have a new deputy during the Mashujaa Celebrations.

Kiharu MP Ndidi Nyoro, a close ally of President William Ruto and often referred to as the “blue-eyed boy” and the point-man in the mountain, is considered a potential successor.

The second prominent candidate is Murang’a Governor Irungu Kang’ata.

Recently, pictures surfaced of Mr. Kang’ata visiting former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and his wife Ida Odinga, further fueling speculation about his candidacy.

Other potential candidates touted to fill the position include; Anne Waiguru (Kirinyaga) former Health CS Mutahi Kagwe, and CS Interior Prof Kithure Kindiki.

This development comes at a time when the fate of Mr. Gachagua seems to be sealed, with his removal from office by way of impeachment. Celebrated lawyer and Siaya Governor James Orengo will represent the National Assembly in this process.
