Pupils from Orao Primary school benefit from free uniforms from well-wishers

The atmosphere at Orao Primary School in Ugunja sub-county, Siaya was filled with excitement and joy as a generous donation from the Munguy Hand of Compassion (MHC) transformed the lives of its pupils.

Each of the 200 students received a full set of uniforms, including cardigans, shirts, blouses, socks, and shoes, bringing a renewed sense of pride and motivation to their educational experience..

MHC identified Orao Primary as a school with significant needs and aimed to boost the morale of its students.

MHC Director Ayub Kayo emphasized the importance of this gesture in shaping the futures of young learners.

“In many rural areas, the lack of proper uniforms leads to low self-esteem among students,” explained Rev. Kayo.

“By providing these essentials, we hope to make a meaningful impact on their lives and destinies.”

Head teacher Nicholas Wasonga expressed gratitude for the support from MHC.

“The local community’s perception of the school has led to a drop in student numbers,” he said. “We are thankful for the well-wishers who have come to our aid. Most families here are economically disadvantaged and cannot afford uniforms for their children.”

Wasonga hopes this initiative will restore parents’ trust in the school and strengthen the partnership with MHC. “This will go a long way in rebuilding the community’s confidence in Orao Primary School,” he added.

The donation has left a lasting impression on the students and the community. Damaris Omengo, a 67-year-old community member, remarked on the significance of the gesture.

“Many of these children had never owned a complete set of new uniforms. This is a fresh start for both the students and the school,” she noted.
