Bondo: Police in Bondo sub-county are actively investigating the mysterious death of a fisherman who was found murdered under unclear circumstances and body dumped at Oyamo Island this morning.
The deceased’s body, identified as John Okelo, was discovered along the shores of Lake Victoria.
It is suspected that he was murdered by unknown assailants last night.
Calvin Omondi, the Beach Management Unit (BMU) chairman of Oyamo Beach, suggested that Okelo was likely murdered elsewhere before his body was transported and dumped along the lake shore.
Omondi mentioned that Okelo was last seen at a local liquor joint with a few friends, leaving in a stable condition.
Residents were shocked to find his lifeless body lying along the lake shore, just a few meters from the liquor joint where he was last seen.
Omondi expressed concern over the rising insecurity on the island and urged local security agencies to address the situation urgently.
“We will not allow such heinous acts to continue in our region. We demand that the killers of the fisherman be brought to justice,” he said.
The incident has sparked fear and outrage among the local community, who are calling for swift action to ensure their safety and prevent further violence.
