Use the same energy to bring funds to coffee farmers, Gachagua to Mt Kenya MPs

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has called on lawmakers from the Mount Kenya region, who played a role in his ouster, to channel their efforts toward securing funds for coffee farmers.

Speaking at a funeral service in Kirinyaga County, Gachagua emphasized the need for these legislators to focus on obtaining the Sh7 billion he had promised for the payment of coffee farmers.

“I have no problem with any lawmaker who participated in my ouster, but they must ensure that they deliver on the financial support for the coffee farmers,” said Gachagua.

“The MPs from Mount Kenya must know that the people are expecting them to bring the Sh7 billion that I was to bring to pay coffee farmers.”

He stressed the importance of continuing the initiatives he had started before his removal from office.

“Since I am not in office, they must now do what I would have done. I would like them to use the same energy they used to hound me out of the office that Kenyans granted me together with President William Ruto to bring the money for the coffee farmers; so, they must remember that,” he added.

This funeral service marked Gachagua’s first public appearance since his ouster from office.

His remarks highlight the ongoing financial struggles of coffee farmers in the region and the critical role of lawmakers in addressing these issues.
