Police in Kahawa West , Kiambu County are investigating a femicide case where the body of a female radio presenter was found in her boyfriend’s house on Friday 1.
The victim, identified as Lilian Achieng Aluko was allegedly brutally murdered by her boyfriend on Friday when she went visiting.
The Radio 44 presenter’s body was discovered with injuries on her face and a stab wound on her back.
The 33-year-old had informed her family on Thursday that she would be spending the night at her boyfriend’s house.
“She left at around 11am and said she was going to her friend. She did not return. On Friday at around 9, I received a call from an unknown number informing me of her demise,” said Jane Akinyi, the deceased’s mother.
The suspect, George Mutegi is known to the family. Mrs Jane confirmed knowing him well since he had visited their home twice.
According to a police report, Lilian was found with visible facial injuries and a stab wound behind her right ear.
The report further indicated that the love birds returned home after visiting a local entertainment joint.
Soon after, neighbors reported hearing sounds of violent altercations but were unable to intervene since the door was locked and the stereo volume was high.
A knife believed to be the murder weapon was recovered at the scene.
The family is calling on the police to arrest the suspect who is still at large.
Lilian ia described by her friends as bubbly and fuill of life.
Her sister was heartbroken and devastated, calling for justice for her sister.
“We have lost a very good girl in the hands of a person she really loved,” a friend eulogized.
This comes at a time when women, activists and the church is calling on the government to step up and contain femicide cases in the country.
In the last three months, 97 women lives have been lost to femicide according to a report by the National Police Service.
