KAJIADO: Detectives in Namanga have arrested four suspects linked to a brutal home invasion targeting an elderly Korean missionary couple in Oloililai, Kajiado County.
The February 10, 2025 attack left the victims, aged 64 and 60, traumatized as the gang subjected them to hours of terror before fleeing with valuables and cash.
According to a report filed by the Assistant Chief of Elmarba, a gang of six broke into the Elmarba Full Gospel Missionary Church compound, where the couple resided.
Under the cover of darkness, the intruders cut through the window grills and forced their way inside.
At around 3 a.m., the attackers overpowered the couple, tied them up with manila ropes, and ransacked their home. They stole four Samsung phones, two laptops, a gold necklace, a bracelet, a wristwatch, and a solar charger, among other valuables.
The robbers also coerced the victims into revealing their mobile money PINs, transferring over Ksh 260,000 before dismantling the CCTV system and taking the hard drive to cover their tracks.
Good Samaritans later responded to faint distress calls and found the shaken, bruised couple, who have served as missionaries in the area for years.
Detectives from Oloililai, working with their Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau (CRIB) counterparts, launched an investigation that led them to key suspects.
Over the weekend, operations in Mlolongo and Mukuru Kwa Ruben resulted in the arrest of Daniel Momanyi Ombati and Mutua Mang’eli Masesi—both ex-convicts from Kitengela Prison—along with Nicodemus Kioko Mwangangi and Silas Obwogi.
During the raid, police recovered two TV sets, two projectors, three mobile phones, crowbars, a hacksaw, a steel cutter, and other crude weapons.
Some of the stolen items were positively identified by the victims, who also identified the suspects as members of the gang that terrorized them.
The four suspects have been arraigned in court, where detectives secured custodial orders as the search for the remaining gang members continues.
