A multi-stakeholder operation in Mombasa targeting muggers has resulted in the arrest of 140 individuals suspected of being involved in the rampant cases of mugging in the coastal city.
The operation, which saw collaboration between the police, the DCI, the County Government Rapid Response Unit, and the Office of the County Commissioner, commenced at 11 a.m.
Mombasa County Commissioner Abdi Noor confirmed that the suspects will be presented in court tomorrow.
“This marks just the beginning of our operations. We will persist until all muggers are apprehended and brought to justice,” stated the administrator.
The operations were focused on key areas including the central business district, namely Makadara, Mama Ngina, Jalaram, Roundabout, and Mbaraki cemetery
