Mediamax Employees living in fear as employer plans to reduce workforce

NAIROBI: Yet again, journalists from Mediamax are living in fear over planned reduction of the workforce within the media house.

In a memo sent to the editorial department indicating intent to declare some employees redundant, the management cited a number of reasons prompting the move.

By declaring employees redundant, they are released from the company.

Digital Transformation, innovation, shifting client needs and introduction of punitive regulations by the government of Kenya are some of the reasons highlighted necessitating the move.

The Kijabe Street based media outlet further complained about delayed payment by the national and county governments has left the company at crossroads.

“Restructuring has been driven by challenges in the macro-business environment, rapid digital advancement, innovation, significant reduction in business volumes, decrease in the clientele base and comprehensive review of internal operational processes over the last two years,” the memo stated.
