President William Ruto has pledged multi-million shilling cash rewards and housing units for Harambee Stars players as motivation ahead of their upcoming African Nations Championship (CHAN) knockout stage matches.
Speaking after meeting the national team to congratulate them on their historic qualification for the CHAN quarter-finals following a victory over Morocco, President Ruto hailed the players for uniting the country through sport.
“We must never allow negativity, failure, or doubt to prevent us from reaching our full potential. The Harambee Stars are proof of what unity can achieve,” Ruto said.
The Head of State announced that each player will receive KSh2.5 million if they win their next match against Zambia on Sunday.
Should they progress by winning the quarter-final, each will be awarded KSh1 million and a two-bedroom affordable housing unit in a location of their choice.
President Ruto urged the team to remain focused, expressing confidence that the CHAN trophy is “within close reach” for Kenya.
