Road to South Asembo for Football Tournament as Walter Okello Mentorship Programme (WOMP) Champions Leadership Through Sports

Asembo: The football season has once again gripped fans across the globe, with the CHAN Championship in full swing and European leagues kicking off.

Closer to home, Kenyans have found reason to celebrate after the Harambee Stars advanced to the quarter-finals, a feat hailed as a testament to resilience and teamwork.

Against this backdrop of football excitement, the Walter Okello Mentorship Programme (WOMP) is set to host the South Asembo Football Tournament this weekend, running from Saturday through Sunday.

The tournament is designed not only to bring communities together but also to highlight the unifying power of sports in cultivating leadership at the grassroots.

“Sports go beyond the game. They inspire, connect and cultivate the very qualities we seek in future leaders—discipline, teamwork and vision,” said WOMP officials ahead of the event.

The two-day tournament is expected to draw teams and supporters from across the region, creating a platform where football becomes more than entertainment—it becomes a tool for empowerment and leadership in action.
