Police Officer Killed by Colleague in Luanda Shooting

LUANDA: A police officer was shot dead by his colleague in Luanda, Vihiga County, on Friday morning, 22 August 2025, following an argument while on duty.

Constable Nicholas Samoei was fatally shot at close range by the officer with whom he had been guarding a government fertiliser store at a local school.

After the shooting, the assailant allegedly fled with Samoei’s CZ rifle.

Police said the circumstances of the killing remain unclear. Although Samoei appeared to have been shot once at close range, investigators recovered 26 spent cartridges at the scene, including 20 of 9mm ammunition and six 7.62mm special rounds, alongside one live round.

The body was found in a room adjacent to the fertiliser store, which the two officers had been assigned to secure.

Detectives are pursuing the suspect, who remains at large.
