Harrison Nyende Mumia, the President of the Atheist Society of Kenya, was arraigned before the Milimani Law Courts on Monday to face charges of publishing false information contrary to the Computer Misuse and Cybercrimes Act.

Mumia pleaded not guilty to four counts of false publication. The court granted him a bond of Sh1 million with one contact person, or an alternative cash bail of Sh500,000 with two contact persons.

As part of his bail conditions, he was also ordered to deposit his passport with the court.

The prosecution alleges that on December 30, 2025, Mumia used a pseudo Facebook account under the name “Robinson Kipruto Ngetich” to knowingly publish false information targeting state leadership.

Detectives state that the publication violated Section 22(1) of the Computer Misuse and Cybercrimes Act No. 5 of 2018, which penalizes the intentional spread of false data through a computer system.

During his arrest at his residence along Kangundo Road, law enforcement officers conducted a search and confiscated several items intended for use as evidence, including: an HP EliteBook X360 laptop and a Redmi smartphone.

Two company stamps belonging to Dovty Digital Technologies and the Atheists in Kenya Society and other various other personal items.
