Village in somber mood after suspected suicide of a 56-year-old businessman

UKWALA: Residents of Karadolo West are reeling from the news of the suspected suicide of Ochieng’ Asimba, a well-known figure in the Ukwala Trading Centre community.

The mystery began at 6:3am on Wednesday, when a lone motorbike was found parked by the River Nzoia bridge.

The discovery of Asimba’s neatly placed clothes and mobile phone at the water’s edge has since turned the riverbank into a site of grief and desperate retrieval efforts.

According to Yenga Sub-location Assistant Chief Richard Osiago, the businessman’s disappearance was sudden.

His wife reported waking in the middle of the night to find their front door open and her husband gone.

While those close to him suggest he had been silently battling depression for a week, he had not reached out for help, leaving the community searching for answers.
