Outcry in Rwanganga village over repeated sexual exploitation of 15-year-old minor

Residents of Rwanganga village in Kigumo sub-county, Murang’A County, are calling for the immediate intervention of the area Children’s Officer to rescue a 15-year-old girl who has been subjected to repeated sexual assault.

The victim, a bright student who is currently pregnant and out of school, has reportedly been suffering abuse at the hands of local men who frequent her home.

According to neighbors, the teenager’s mother operates an illicit alcohol business out of the residential house, turning the home into a den for local drunkards.

Local residents allege that the mother is fully aware of the exploitation but has failed to protect her child.

“The mother is aware of all the ills that the daughter is going through and she does nothing,” Anne Wambui, a neighbor, told Kondele News.

Wambui revealed that the woman lives in the house with the victim and two other children. She noted that the ongoing illicit trade has fostered a highly dangerous environment that leaves the minors completely vulnerable.

“Her alcohol business has created an environment where drunk men take advantage of the teenager,” Wambui said.

Disturbed by the ongoing abuse, residents are appealing to the Department of Children’s Services to urgently remove all three children from the toxic environment and place them in protective custody.

“That young girl who is expecting is a bright student, but she is now out of school. The government should rescue them and ensure she gets back to learning,” Wambui pleaded.
