Kisumu Central MP aspirant Eng Bovince Ochieng’ condemns ACK church violence, calls for calm

BY GEOFREY KASERA: Eng Bovince Ochieng’, an aspirant for the Kisumu Central parliamentary seat, has condemned the tragic violence that erupted at the ACK Church, allegedly leaving one person dead and destroying multiple properties.

During the chaotic incident, valuable assets, including nine motorcycles, were reduced to ashes.

Expressing his shock and sadness, Eng Ochieng’ extended his condolences to the family of the deceased and stood in solidarity with those whose livelihoods and properties were destroyed.

He emphasized that no political ambition, leadership contest, or disagreement justifies the loss of a single human life.

“Violence can never be accepted as a means of settling differences in a democratic society,” Ochieng’ stated, reminding citizens that every Kenyan has a constitutional right to life, security, and peaceful assembly.

The parliamentary hopeful urged relevant security agencies to launch swift, thorough, and impartial investigations to ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice and to restore public confidence in the rule of law.

Eng Ochieng’ further cautioned the young people against being manipulated or exploited by individuals pursuing selfish political interests.

He urged young people to channel their energy, talent, and determination into building businesses, creating opportunities, and developing their communities, rather than participating in destructive acts that leave them to bear the consequences alone.

Ochieng’ also called out the “deafening silence” from some political leaders following the tragedy, warning that silence in the face of violence can easily be interpreted as indifference or tacit approval.

He challenged all leaders, regardless of their political affiliation, to speak with one voice in condemning lawlessness and promoting peace among their supporters.
