Police probe suspicious death of man found lifeless in Rachuonyo East

Police in Rachuonyo East Sub-County have launched a homicide investigation following the suspicious death of a man whose lifeless body was discovered inside his house in Kasewe A sub-location.

According to area Assistant Chief Peter Odero, preliminary examinations of the body revealed visible injuries on the neck and other parts of the limbs, raising immediate suspicions of foul play.

The administrator noted that the victim’s wife reported that her husband had returned home late last night in an intoxicated state and immediately went to sleep.

“According to the wife, the husband came home late and drunk before retiring to bed,” Assistant Chief Odero said. “She only realized that he had visible, fresh injuries at around 5:00 AM when she tried to wake him and found him completely unresponsive.”

Upon making the shocking discovery, the woman reportedly instructed her children to alert her in-laws, who live nearby.

Family members and neighbors quickly gathered at the scene in an attempt to rush the unresponsive man to the hospital. However, their efforts bore no fruit, as medical personnel pronounced him dead on arrival.

Local detectives have since visited the home to document the scene and preserve evidence.

The body of the deceased has been moved to the mortuary pending a postmortem examination, which is expected to establish the precise cause of death.

Police have urged local residents who may have seen the deceased on his way home last night or have any information regarding his final hours to step forward and assist with the ongoing investigations.
