People’s Party of Kenya (PPK) leader Ndindi Nyoro has accused the government of allowing foreigners into the country to be registered as voters, claiming the move could be part of a plan to interfere with the 2027 General Election.

Speaking at the PPK headquarters while addressing aspirants and delegations from across the country, Nyoro said the opposition would resist any attempt to let non-Kenyans take part in the polls, even if the government mobilises to register them.

He insisted that only eligible Kenyan citizens should vote in 2027, as debate over the integrity of the electoral process continues to grow.

Nyoro also turned his attention to the proposed Dangote East Africa Refinery in Lamu, demanding full disclosure of the project’s shareholders.

He said Kenyans welcome the investment but deserve assurance that it will run transparently and free of undue interference from government officials. He alleged that individuals linked to the government are seeking shares in the refinery for personal gain, and called for the ownership structure to be made public.

The PPK leader further argued that Kenya should hold a stake in the venture, given the environment and infrastructure the country is providing for it. He said the benefits should reach the residents of Lamu and Kenyans more broadly.

On the political front, Nyoro accused President William Ruto’s administration of failing to fully deliver on its promises, arguing that Kenya needs an economic revival.

He said PPK is working with other opposition parties to settle on a single presidential candidate to face Ruto in 2027. However, he stated that his party will not support political zoning and will field candidates for other elective positions through what he described as free, fair and credible nominations.
