Former Kanyadoto Ward Member of the County Assembly (MCA), Lawrence Obonyo Mula passed away yesterday under mysterious circumstance.
Mula was pronounced dead at Homa Bay County Referral Hospital, where he was rushed after collapsing while walking along the roadside at Sofia Estate within Homa Bay Town.
Mula served as Kanyadoto Ward MCA in the Homa Bay County Assembly from 2013 to 2017.
The deceased played a significant role as a witness in the ongoing Sharon Otieno and her unborn child murder case, which implicated former Migori governor Okoth Obado.
Lawrence Mula, while on the stand last year, testified that Obado treated Sharon very well, taking care of her needs, and he believed the ex-governor had no intentions of harming her.
“The relationship between Obado and Sharon seemed so positive that no one could have imagined her being harmed. I couldn’t fathom that Obado or his personal assistant Michael Oyamo had any intentions of harming Sharon,” said Mula last year when he testified in the case that attracted public attention.
Mula, who had testified to being the intermediary in Obado and Sharon’s relationship, further stated that the ex-governor was transparent about his affair and even promised to support Sharon’s baby after birth.
According to Mula, the ex-governor had confessed to his wife and children about the affair with Sharon, resulting in a pregnancy, and the family had no objections to him taking responsibility for the child once born.
