The grief-stricken family of the late entrepreneur Sheila Wegesha is facing an additional hardship following a troubling incident at their Athi River residence, where a group from Migori raided their home, pillaging everything in sight.
Beryl Akelo, Sheila’s niece, recounted the harrowing experience, detailing the loss of clothes, food, electronics, and all other valuables within the compound. “They took away everything, even the food meant for the children,” she tearfully lamented.
She made this revelation during an interview with Simy Kenya, a renown content creator.
Amidst preparations for Sheila’s final rites, the family found themselves victimized as opportunistic looters ransacked their home, leaving the children with nothing.
As the family grappled with the tragedy, plans were underway for Sheila’s burial in Homa Bay County.

Deceased’s first husband, Samuel Odoyo, a police officer, had taken the responsibility of burying her as his rights to her remains as per Luo tradition.
In accordance with Luo customs, the first husband, who paid the bride price, is considered the rightful owner of the woman, irrespective of subsequent relationships.
Consequently, Sheila’s remains were taken for burial at their matrimonial home at Nyalkinyi in Homa Bay County, along with the cultural belief that all children born to her belong to him.
Sheila, a devoted mother of four, had been managing a business with her estranged lover prior to her untimely demise.
The tragic event unfolded on May 9, when her lifeless body was discovered by her 18-year-old daughter, coinciding with the disappearance of the primary suspect, Jack Bambo, who remains at large.
