How a Member of Parliament ran to Raila crying and begging for forgiveness after meeting President Ruto.

More than a year after their visit to President William Ruto alongside other ODM Members of Parliament, Lang’ata lawmaker Felix Odiwuor, popularly known as Jalang’o, has disclosed the extent of the backlash they faced from the public and fellow leaders; one Walter Owino (Awendo) ran to Karen crying and begging Raila Odinga for forgiveness.

Speaking at the burial of Jackson Owalo, brother of ICT Cabinet Secretary Eliud Owalo, in Rarieda, Jalang’o highlighted how the situation escalated unexpectedly following their meeting with the president.

“Things took an unexpected turn; it wasn’t what we had anticipated when we visited the president,” Jalang’o shared amidst laughter from mourners.

“When tensions flared, one of us, Mr. Owino, sought forgiveness at Raila Odinga’s residence in Karen. It was a challenging time, my friends,” he added.

Subsequently, the ODM party expelled them. However, on November 29, 2023, the Political Parties Tribunal reinstated them within the opposition party, overturning the disciplinary committee’s decision.

The Tribunal deemed the expulsion irregular, noting that the ODM Disciplinary Committee was improperly constituted.

Consequently, the adoption of its decision by the National Executive Committee to expel the five MPs was deemed null and void in the eyes of the law.
