Ugunja: Police in Ugunja sub-county have detained two suspects accused of attacking and injuring mourners at a night vigil in Ugunja.

The suspects, Isaiah Omondi, 30, and Edwin Okoth, 30, were apprehended by members of the public who initially subjected them to mob justice before being rescued by police from Ugunja Police Station.

Following their rescue from the angry crowd, police conducted a search and recovered a stolen mobile phone and a machete believed to have been used by the suspects during the attack on the mourners.

After being rescued, the suspects were taken to Ambira Sub-county Hospital for treatment and later discharged. They were subsequently transferred to the police station for further processing.
