Intern doctors have broken the record of #OccupytheMinistry of Health offices by turning the veranda into their makeshift sleeping quarters.
Equipped with warm duvets and bed sheets, they peacefully spread out their sleeping gear without causing any disruption.
They have vowed to continue their encampment at the MOH offices until their demands are met: either the Health Cabinet Secretary resigns or is dismissed, or they receive their long-awaited appointment letters as stipulated in the 2007 Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
“Our demands are straightforward: either the CS steps down, or we get our appointment letters as per the CBA, whichever happens first,” stated one of the intern doctors.
This move comes after a full day of camping at the offices. Earlier, the Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists Union (KPMDU) had announced the end of a strike through their official X handle, only for the Secretary General to later clarify that their account had been hacked, and the announcement was false.
The doctors, clad in lab coats, then gathered and began chanting slogans against CS Susan Nakhumicha, expressing their dissatisfaction with her leadership.
