SIAYA: Police in Bondo are investigating a case where the body of a male adult was discovered floating at the shore of Lake Victoria.
The body, believed to be that of a fisherman who might have drowned some time ago, was spotted by a woman who was bathing at the lake.
“She was bathing at the lakeshore of Lake Victoria when she spotted an unknown male body floating,” read a police incident report.
The woman, Peninah Adhiambo, reported the matter, and the police promptly arrived to take the body to Bondo Sub-county Mortuary, where it awaits a post-mortem examination.
The police are calling upon members of the public who might have lost a relative in the lake to visit Bondo Sub-county Mortuary to identify the body.
Drowning incidents have been on the rise in Siaya County. The county police boss has repeatedly urged lake users to adhere to all safety rules to prevent such tragedies.
