A woman in custody for stabbing husband to death, Bondo

SIAYA: Police in Bondo sub-county have arrested a woman suspected of stabbing her husband, who later succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment.

Zaina Akinyi was apprehended by detectives after being tracked to her hideout. She is scheduled to appear in court on Monday to face charges related to the alleged offense.

Fredrick Ochieng, the nephew of the deceased, Fredrick Otieno Okong’o, recounted that the couple quarreled on the night of July 14 at their home in Wichlum Beach.

“The couple quarreled around 10:00 PM on July 14, during which my late uncle sustained stab wounds to his lower abdomen. I rushed him to Bondo sub-county hospital, where he was admitted,” Mr. Ochieng said in his statement recorded at Bondo Police Station.

“He remained in the hospital until July 19, when he succumbed to his injuries. His wife fled after learning of his death two days later,” he added.

The body has been taken to Bondo Sub-county mortuary for a post-mortem examination as police continue their investigation.

The police launched a manhunt for the suspect, which led to her arrest. They also recovered the suspected murder weapon, a kitchen knife.
