A multi-agency team comprising police from Mombasa Central Police Station and other security stakeholders have arrested 75 muggers in various parts of the city.
This action follows the circulation of a viral video showing machete-wielding men robbing an innocent pedestrian within the CBD on social media.
The recent surge in muggings in the coastal city has resulted in the loss of property worth thousands of shillings.
In response, the police launched an operation aimed at restoring order and reducing incidents of mugging in the city.
During this operation, the police successfully apprehended the 75 suspects, who will be arraigned in court.
A senior police officer from Mombasa Central Police Station informed Kondele News that the operations were conducted jointly with other security stakeholders.
“Other than the police, we had the officials from NGAO who worked hand in hand with the police to arrest the situation,” said the officer.
