Chaos mar burial of three-year-old Diana, who died of bees’ sting

BOMET: Things went south at the burial ceremony of Diana Chepng’eno, the three-year-old girl who died after being stung by bees at Longisa Hospital in Bomet.

The tragic incident has put Bomet County under intense scrutiny, with widespread outrage and demands for the arrest of the medical officials accused of negligence.

An amateur video, which Kondele News could not independently verify, shows the deceased minor in visible pain while medical officers allegedly stood by, seemingly unperturbed. This video has fueled public anger and calls for accountability.

During the burial ceremony, tensions escalated between supporters of local leaders and those of Governor Hillary Barchok.

The discord prompted the presiding clergy to halt speeches and proceed directly to laying the child to rest.

Amidst the commotion, Bomet East Member of Parliament Richard Yegon addressed the crowd, calling on the county governor to dismiss the County Executive Committee (CEC) member for Health and the Chief Officer.

Mr Yegon criticized their handling of the health sector, stating that they had failed in their mandate.

The tragic death of Diana Chepng’eno and the subsequent chaos at her burial highlight deep-seated issues within the county’s health system and have sparked a significant public outcry for justice and better healthcare oversight.
