Man in Bomet county electrocuted while trimming a tree near live power lines

Members of Chepngania village in Bomet county are drowning in sorrow after a 33-year old man was electrocuted while trimming a tree branch near an active power line.

According to eye witnesses, the deceased cried for help from the top of the bluegum tree he was trimming before falling down, clutching the panga he was using.

Kenya Power officers at Bomet station were quick to respond, turning off power supply in the area.

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) joined the police at the scene to investigate the incident.

The body of the deceased was taken to Longisa Hospital Mortuary awaiting posymortem.

The residents have called on Kenya Power to organize public forums to educate the community on safety precautions around power lines.
