Police in Makindu arrest a notorious Highway carjacker

Makindu: Law enforcement officers in Makindu have successfully cracked a complex motor vehicle theft case, arresting 38-year-old Musyoka Mutava.

He’s identified as the key suspect behind a recent highway ambush that left one motorist injured and his vehicle stolen.

The alarming incident occurred when the victim, driving a silver Subaru Trezia from Mombasa to Malaba, offered a ride to two hitchhikers in Mariakani.

As they approached Kiunduani Market, one of the passengers claimed they needed to alight.

The moment the driver slowed down, chaos erupted: two additional assailants burst from a nearby thicket, struck the driver with a blunt object, and then sped off with his car and a bag full of personal belongings.

The injured motorist received treatment at Makindu Sub-County Hospital and has since been discharged in stable condition.
