SEGA-UGENYA: A somber mood has engulfed Sega, North Ugenya in Siaya County after a middle-aged couple was found dead inside their bathroom early Sunday morning.

The deceased have been identified as Meshack Ongulo and his wife Modesta Mwikali, whose lifeless bodies were discovered while their children were asleep in the house.

According to area chief Francis Osoro, preliminary investigations suggest the couple may have been electrocuted.

“I arrived at the scene at around 7am. From the superficial investigations conducted together with the police, there is a likelihood that the couple was electrocuted in the bathroom,” said the administrator.

He added that a toothbrush was found at the scene, raising the possibility that Ongulo was brushing his teeth when the incident occurred.

“There is a likelihood that his wife went into the bathroom, and in trying to assist during the commotion, he was also electrocuted,” he explained.

The bodies have been moved to Same Day Classmate Mortuary, where a postmortem examination is expected to determine the actual cause of death.

Police have launched further investigations into the incident.
