Suspect Arrested in Maralal Robbery After Cashier Bravely Fights Back

Police in Samburu have arrested a 20-year-old man in connection with a series of violent robberies in and around Maralal town.

According to a police report, Christopher Ayok Lemarkele, along with an accomplice who is still at large, stormed a local shop in Maralal.

Posing as customers, the two drew an AK-47 rifle and aimed it at the cashier.

In a moment of courage, the cashier pushed the weapon away just as Lemarkele fired, grazing her left breast.

She was treated for a soft tissue injury at the Samburu County Referral Hospital and has since been discharged.

The robbers escaped with Sh50,000, but detectives quickly launched a manhunt. Through diligent detective work and intelligence, they tracked Lemarkele to his hideout.

Upon his arrest, police found a trove of evidence, including a jungle hat, jacket, and belt.

Lemarkele is currently in custody, awaiting arraignment. Police are still searching for his accomplice.
