Police Rescue Kidnap Victim, Arrest Five Suspects

Kiambu Sub-County detectives have arrested five people for a kidnapping in Ruaka and successfully rescued the victim.

The investigation began after the victim’s girlfriend received a phone call from an unknown person demanding a Sh500,000 ransom for his safe return.

Acting on intelligence, a team of detectives tracked the kidnappers to Ithanga, where they rescued the victim, who had visible injuries and a blood-stained shirt.

The five suspects—identified as Sydney Ezra Achanda, John Louise Omondi, Enock Sum Cheruyot, Peter Kanini Mwangi, and Lucy Sara Muhonja—were arrested near Quickmatt Thindigua.

During the operation, detectives impounded two getaway vehicles, a Suzuki Swift and a Mazda Demio.

A search of the vehicles yielded a kitchen knife, ten mobile phones, and a tablet.

At the time of their arrest, the kidnappers had already received a ransom of Sh68,000. The suspects are now in custody and will be arraigned in court.
