Wiper Patriotic Front leader Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka has issued a blistering end-of-year address, warning that Kenya is “drifting into a deeper crisis” and calling on citizens to embrace the “urgency of now.”
Speaking as 2025 draws to a close, Kalonzo argued that the nation has reached a perilous crossroads where “gentle rhetoric” is no longer enough to mend Kenya’s fractured social and economic fabric.
He laid the blame for soaring living costs, rampant unemployment, and crumbling public services squarely at the feet of the current administration.
“This is not the season for cosmetic changes or polished speeches,” Kalonzo declared, calling for bold, ethical leadership to pull the country back from the brink of collapse.
In a poignant moment of reflection, Kalonzo paid tribute to the titans of Kenyan history lost in 2025, including Raila Odinga, Ngũgĩ wa Thiong’o, and Pheroze Nowrojee—urging Kenyans to honor their legacy of justice.
He further decried the “moral failure” of the state, citing the killings of young protesters like Rex Maasai and the abduction of civic tech innovator Rosemary Njeri as evidence of a constitutional breakdown.
Looking toward the future, Kalonzo dismissed the “bottom-up” model as hollow sloganeering and rejected any talk of a referendum, insisting that the ultimate verdict belongs at the ballot box.
Closing with a definitive political strike, he confirmed his 2027 presidential candidacy, promising that the United Opposition will unveil its unified front by early 2026 to dismantle corruption and restore the Kenyan dream.
